Top Corporates Adopting Interenet Telephony

The best of Indian business is adopting Internet telephony for their own
networks and this will grow faster if the regulatory restrictions were
removed. B Ashok, vice-president, south India and Sri Lanka, Cisco Systems,
expects IP telephony to grow faster this year in India. Sale of Cisco's IP
phone systems picked up last year itself with a range of customers being
added such as Wipro, Infosys, Xerox, Digital GlobalSoft and vMoksha.
Once internet telephony service providers roll out their national and
international long distances, these companies will be able to utilise and
take full advantage of Cisco's IP phone technology.

Cisco started shipping its IP phones from August 2000 and has just
announced the shipment of its one millionth IP phone in the global market.
It also has a global customer base of over 5000 enterprises. These
customers use Cisco Systems IP telephony solutions to achieve a voice
network over their leased data lines.

Cisco says that major companies worldwide accepting IP communication
systems means its IP architecture provides competitive advantages over
traditional PBX technology
