Course Objectives:

DURATION: The
course will commence in August and will consist of 350 hours extending over a
period of 6 months. Equal importance will be given to imparting the necessary
theoretical base and to practical, hands-on experience in order to develop
necessary counselling skills. Classes will be held on every Monday, Tuesday and
Wednesday from 5.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Special classes may be conducted on
Saturdays / Public Holidays.

ELIGIBILITY: Graduates (or those
who are appearing for the final year degree examination) in
Psychology/Education/ Sociology/ Social Work from a recognized University.
Teachers with over 3 years of teaching experience from any discipline are also
eligible to apply.
Personal interviews will be held to select candidates.
Course Objectives:
To familiarize teachers
/ childcare functionaries / lecturers with the concept of life skills and equip
them with the skills to implement a program in schools / out of school children
and colleges.
Course
Design / Content:
The course will cover
the theoretical basis, objective and methods of life skills education. It will
train in activities that support such a program. It will also focus on how to
design and evaluate a life skills education program.
The course offered is
divided into 5 weekend workshops. Spanning a 6-month period.
Workshop 1 (2 days) - Intensive exposure to experiential
methodologies and methods of facilitation, including theatre in education,
films, art and the use of narratives. Review of manuals and existing programme.
Workshop 2 (1 day) - Presentation and
discussion on pilot experiences of the participants and further exploration of
methodology.

3 (1 day) - Protocols on program
development
Workshop
4 (1 day) - Presentation and
discussion on trends, experiences in the implementation of the program.
Workshop 5 (1 day) - Methods of process
evaluation and impact assessment.
Each workshop would
also contain sessions of 60 80 minutes which can be replicated /
reconstructed in a classroom setting. The workshop would not focus on listing
and building of Macro and Micro Skills. It would focus on the general and
personal location of the teacher on these issues and the conviction with which
these are held, the emotions it raises and the action taken.

Evaluation : Participants
would be required to submit process reports on Pilot experiences,
Program development,
Trend analysis.

Success

Selection of appropriate optional, proper guidance, right study materials and
gods grace ensures success in I.A.S.
Preparation
for Civil Service requires re-moulding the character of the aspirant in a
specific manner to acquire certain skills and qualities. Hence our approach is
based on Systematic, Intelligent and Sustainable Hard Work.
Systematic
study involves a regular conversion of input into output in the form of
finished notes, synopsis, sketches and charts. The basic reference material
shall form the inputs. The manner in which input is converted into output
represents the conversion process. Only the authentic materials serve as
inputs.
We
also have a formally defined conversion process. Our approach in essence is a
crystal clear demarcation between what should be and what should not be taught
in the class.
The Civil Services (IAS) training programme
of Christ College have two objectives - Short term and Long term. Short Term
programs will be addressing the candidates who would wholeheartedly commit to
the academic programme.

long-term preparation is envisaged to ensure the overall improvement in the

take up civil services examination. They would be counselled and would be given
ample information to select the right optional considering each ones
educational background. the candidates thereby could make the right choice and
become efficacious. They could fruitfully join the right programme depending on
their work schedule. In short the centre facilitates to the unique requirements
of each individual and thereby succeeding in the Civil Services Examination.
The
Civil Services (IAS) training programme of Christ College have two objectives -
Short term and Long term. Short Term programs will be addressing the candidates
who would wholeheartedly commit to the academic programme.
The

Service in the young minds of college going so as to equip them to realise

Rules
and Regulations
Application for admission must be made in the
prescribed form issued from the college office.
Participants have to maintain the decorum and conform to the general rules and guide
lines of the college.
Fees shall be paid in two installments. Fee once
paid shall not be refunded. Fees shall be remitted at the South Indian Bank,
Christ College Extn. Counter.
Prolonged leave and absence without prior
permission shall automatically render the cancellation of the candidature.
Participants are not allowed to disrupt the
normal functioning of the college.
Students have to strictly carry the identity card
and produce them when asked.

Note
An attempt at a preliminary examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the examination.
If a candidate actually appears in any one paper
in the preliminary examination he shall be deemed to have made an attempt at
the examination.
Notwithstanding the disqualification/cancellation
of candidature the fact of appearance of the candidate at the examination will
count as an attempt.
A candidate must have attained the age of 21
years and must not have attained the age of 30 years as on 1st August of the
year in which the candidate attends the examination.
The upper limit prescribed above will be
relaxable up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Schedule
Cast or Schedule Tribe.
The competitive examination comprises two
successive stages
Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and
Interview) for the selection of candidates for the various Services and Posts.
The Preliminary Examination will consist of two
papers of objective type (Multiple Choice questions) carry a maximum of 450
Marks.
This examination is meant to serve as a screening
test only; the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidates
who are declared qualified for admission to the Main Examination will not be
counted for determining their final order of merit. The number of candidates to
be admitted to the Main Examination will be about twelve to thirteen times the
total approximate number of vacancies to be filled in the year in the various
Services and Posts. Only those
candidates who are declared by the Commission in a year will be eligible for
admission to the Main Examination of that year provided they are otherwise
eligible for admission to the Main Examination.
The Main Examination will consist of a written
examination and an interview test. The
written exam will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type.
These may be fixed by the Commission at their
discretion, shall summon candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in
the written part of the Main Examination for an interview for a Personality
Test. However, the papers on Indian
Languages and English will be qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in these papers will not be counted for
ranking.
The number of candidates to be summoned for
interview will be about twice the number of vacancies to be filled. The interview will carry 300 marks (with no
minimum qualifying marks).
Marks thus obtained by the candidates in the Main
Examination (written part as well as interview) would determine their final
ranking. Candidates will be allotted to
the various Services and Posts accordingly.

The question papers for the examination will be of
conventional (Essay Type)
The candidates will have the option to answer all
the question papers, expect the language papers, viz. Paper-I and Paper-II
above, in any one of the languages included in the Eighth Schedule to the
Constitution or in English.
The question paper other than language papers
will be set both in Hindi and English.
Both the question papers will be of the objective
type (multiple choice questions). The question papers will be set both in Hindi
and English.
The course content of the syllabus for the
optional subjects will be of the degree level. Each paper will be of the two
hours duration.
Candidates will not be allowed to offer the

NOTE
All candidates in Government Service, whether in a
permanent or in temporary capacity or as work charged employees, other than
casual or daily rated employees or those serving under public enterprises will
be required to submit an undertaking that they have informed in writing to
their Head of office/ Department that they have applied for the examination.
Candidates should note that in case a communication is received from their
employer by the commission withholding permission to the candidates applying
for appearing at the examination, their applications shall be
rejected/candidature shall be cancelled.
Candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying
marks in the preliminary examination as may be fixed by the Commission at their
discretion shall be admitted to
the Main examination and
candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the Main examination
(Written) as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion shall be
summoned by them for an interview for Personality Test.

Eligibility
Criteria
The object of the interview is to assess the
personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board
of competent and unbiased observers.
The test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. As per
the opinion of special experts this is an assessment of not only the
intellectual qualities but social traits and interest in current affairs as
well. Interview Board also attempts to
measure the qualities such as mental alertness, critical powers of
assimilation, clear and logical exposition, balanced judgment, variety and depth of interest, ability for social
cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.
The interview test is not intended to be a test
either of the specialized or general knowledge of the candidates. As this has
been already tested through the written papers. Candidates are expected to have
taken an intelligent interest not only in their special subjects of academic
study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and
outside their own state and country as well as modern currents of thought and
in new discoveries which should rouse the curiosity of well educated youth.
The above mentioned will be enough for an insight
into the vastness of the preparation a student must undergo to appear in the
Civil Services Examination.
Personality
TEST
The Commission has discretion to fix qualifying
marks in any or all the subjects of the examination.
If a candidates handwriting is not easily
legible, a deduction will be made on this account from the total marks
otherwise accruing to him
Marks will not be allotted for mere superficial
knowledge
Credit will be given for orderly, effective and
exact expression combined with due economy of words in all subjects of the
examination.
